Changes in post production & editing

This video created by Rhys show's the editing process and colour correction process we have been through to edit our opening to.
Technologies and program's used include after effects to create a blue hue over our opening.
By colour correction we can portray the mood and atmosphere we want our opening to create via lighting and effects. The blue hue creates mystery and a glaze of cold colour. We hope this decision in editing will have an effect on our audience and portray these connotations and feelings of the colour blue.

These corrections add to the professional look of our opening and add to the tension and suspense that can be created by our 2minute short opening.

The editing process worked by us all sitting around one computer and each contributing to the process. We shared skills and with Jake and Rhys having previous experiences in the programmes were able to teach me lots of techniques and skills to edit.

Skills and methods used included Cutting clips, muting audio clips,  reducing audio,  adding sound affects. Changing the curves, exposure, contrast of the picture of the film editing the appearance. Speeding up or slowing down clips.
Importing institution video clips of Paramount and our own 'UP' video.
And many more techniques...

Whilst editing in Final Cut Pro X we decided a great way to show the evidence of our editing and the skills and process we used would be to do a screen recording. The screen recording was captured using a program called QuickTime player.
No surprise our editing took many hours so this video shows a sped up video of the process.

We also used Adobe After Effects to colour correct our film opening shown in the post production video above, this 2nd programme used help with the overall finished appearance and gave us options to achieve other effects that Final Cut Pro X does not offer.

  1. Great idea! I can certainly see what a long time it all took. It would have been a good idea to have had some analysis too but that might be in your evaluation yet.
