Questionnaire Audience research Results

Our Questionnaire results Analysed
This chart show's how many times the public watch Horror films a week. The results show the most commonly answered time period was 0-1 weekly. Followed by 2-3 times a week. The smallest choices showed some people hardly watch horror films. This show's the horror genre is not for everyone. These results are useful and good to see as we have an audience that watch horror films regularly. Also means when shown in cinema a large % of the public would watch.

This pie chart clearly show's that most people prefer the opening credits to be separate instead of over the footage.  However the results had only a 5 people difference showing that the public are split on what there preference is. For this reason I think in our film we should use what best works for our specific film and sub-genre; taking into consideration if the credits add interest and fear.

From are target audience here we can gather the most popular sub-genre is the Psychological  sub genre. This gives us confidence in basing our horror film Anomalous within the psychological sub genre. Its interesting to see that Action horror and the slasher genre's were last Favorited showing perhaps films like Saw are not so popular anymore. Comedy Horror came in 2nd revealing that our target audience like to laugh whilst being scared. Perhaps from this we should consider at some point using  light relief in our film to calm and relieve the audience for a short moment.

This question asked the audience what there preferred sounds were in a horror film. 38 people in our audience stated that they preferred quiet creepy Eerie music. We should take this in to consideration when playing our sound track and sound effects used in the opening of the film. The music will be essential in the opening to set a pace and atmosphere for the film. 10 liked loud action music- I think these sorts of sounds will not be used in our film as they do not suit the narrative or sub genre yet it is interesting to see what the target audience like.

In this question we asked the target audience what were there preferences on the the main actors used in a horror film. The results show like expected and conventionally used that the Male main actor is most liked. This is conventionally expected in horror films and essentially in most genres of film. We will go with this convention by using Josh Volpe to play the role of Parker. The results show that the audience like the main actor to be adult instead of child and some also like the narrative to follow a female main actor.

Preferred Horror Film Setting results show that 20 people in the target audience most liked to see the horror film setting be set in a house. Shortly following was Abandoned places with a strong number of 17 people. Overseas interesting got to votes which suggests that audiences like to be more familiar with there setting even if it does unsettle them by other ways. We will use both a house and abandoned setting in our film Anomalous.
